Fig and raisin bread.
Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 cups cake flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 teaspoons nutmeg
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 pound figs, chopped
- 2 cups raisins
Directions
- Cream together the shortening and sugar until fluffy. Mix in the eggs.
- Double sift together all the dry ingredients. Alternately add to the sugar mixture with the water. Fold in the fruits and pour into a loaf pan.
- Bake at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 2 hours.
