Feather Chocolate Cake is two layers of fabulous!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3, 1 ounce squares unsweetened chocolate
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 2 cups cake flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2/3 cup milk
Directions
- Cream shortening and sugars; add eggs and vanilla; beat until fluffy. Melt chocolate in hot water over low heat; blend and cool slightly. Add to creamed mixture. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.
- Place in 2 waxed paper lined 9 inch round layer cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes. Frost as desired.
