This easy-to-make cake is ideal for all occasions, from potlucks to large family gatherings. Can be topped with frosting, powdered sugar, caramel or whipped topping.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1-3/4 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup boiling water

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. Beat in eggs, milk, vegetable oil and vanilla.
  4. Stir in boiling water.
  5. Pour batter into a greased 9x13 baking pan.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
