Easy Shepherd's Pie uses a jar of brown gravy.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup celery, sliced
  • 1/3 cup onion
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 jar brown gravy
  • 1 cup cooked carrots, sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme leaves
  • 2 1/2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1/4 cup American cheese, grated

Directions

  1. Brown beef, celery and onion in shortening; drain excess fat. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in gravy, cooked carrots and thyme leaves. Pour into an 8 inch square baking dish. Spoon mashed potatoes around edge of dish; sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 375 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes.
