Traditional Candied Sweet Potatoes continues to be a family favorite.


  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1, 16 ounce can sweet potatoes


  1. In a large heavy saucepan or Dutch oven, combine sugar with corn syrup, butter and salt.
  2. Bring to boiling over low heat, stirring until butter melts and sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat; add sweet potatoes, arranging in a single layer. Baste well with syrup; cook covered, over very low heat, turning once, 15 minutes.
  3. Remove cover; cook, basting occasionally, 15 minutes longer or until potatoes are well glazed.
