Use a spicier variety of bourbon whiskey for this deceptively strong mixed drink made with fresh lemon juice, Bénédictine, dark rum and an egg white.


  • 1-1/2 ounces bourbon
  • 3/4 ounce fresh egg white
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 2 bar-spoons Bénédictine
  • 1-1/2 bar-spoons sugar syrup
  • 1/2 ounce dark rum
  • Lemon twist to garnish


  1. Place all of the ingredients, except for the rum and lemon twist, into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  2. Vigorously shake the mixture for 35 seconds and then strain into a cocktail glass filled with fresh ice.
  3. Float the rum on the top of the drink and then garnish with the lemon twist; serve immediately.
