Dill Bread is a savory treat;  great with soup and salads.


  • 1 package yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 cup creamed cottage cheese, heated to lukewarm
  • 1 tablespoon minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons dill seed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 1/2 cups flour


  1. Soften yeast in water. Combine all but flour in mixing bowl. Add flour, 1/2 cup at a time, beating well after each addition. Put into a well greased bowl, turning once. Let rise in a warm place until doubled.
  2. Punch dough down and knead five minutes. Place dough in greased loaf pan and let rise again in warm place at least 45 minutes or until doubled.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40-50 minutes or until golden brown. Brush with butter and sprinkle with salt.
