Crusty Peach Cobbler is made with fresh peaches.
Ingredients
- 3 cups fresh, sliced peaches
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon rind, grated
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
Directions
- Arrange peaches in an 8 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with sugar, rind, extract and juice. Place in oven and bake at 400 degrees F while making shortcake crust.
- Combine dry ingredients, cut in shortening and mix. Add milk and egg at once. Spread dough over hot peaches. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sugar. Bake at 400 degrees F for 35-40 minutes.
