Serve this sweet treat at breakfast or as an after dinner dessert.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2-1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions

  1. Mix together butter, brown sugar and flour until mixture becomes coarse. Reserve 1 cup for topping.
  2. Mix together baking soda and buttermilk; stir into flour mixture.
  3. Add egg, vanilla and salt; mix well.
  4. Stir mixture until batter becomes smooth.
  5. Pour batter into a greased 9x13 baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle crumb topping over all.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
