I love the sauce mixture in this recipe.
Ingredients
- SAUCE:
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 2 tbsp. flour
- 1 cup water
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- BREAD PUDDING
- 10 slices raisin bread, cubed
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup. butter, melted
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
Directions
- Spray a crock pot with non stick spray.
- Place the bread cubes in the crock pot.
- Blend the eggs and milk together in a bowl.
- Add the sugar, butter, raisins and cinnamon.
- Pour the mixture over the bread and stir.
- Cover and cook on high for 1 hour reduce to low and cook for an additonal 3 to 4 hours.
- Before you are ready to serve make your sauce.
- In a pan melt the butter.
- Stir in the flour until smooth.
- Slowly add water, sugar and vanilla.
- Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer until the sauce thickens.
- Spoon bread pudding into bowls and pour the sauce over the top.
- Serve.
