Cream Cheese Bars are sweet treats that blend crunchy walnuts with the smooth and creamy taste of cream cheese.
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
- 1 cup flour
- 1, 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
- Cream butter and brown sugar. Add flour and nuts. Mix well.
- Press all but 1 cup of this mixture into an greased 8 inch square baking pan. Save the remainder for the topping. Bake at 350 degrees F for 12 minutes.
- Blend remaining ingredients and pour over baked mixture. Put remaining crumbs on top. Return to oven and bake an additional 20 minutes.
- Cool completely before cutting into squares. Refrigerate before serving.
