The flavor of cloves enhances this corned beef.

Ingredients

  • 4 pound corned beef rump cut
  • 1 to 2 cups water
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 strips fresh orange peel
  • 2 to 5 whole cloves
  • Glaze
  • 3 tbsp. honey
  • 2 tbsp. frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
  • 2 tsp. prepared mustard

Directions

  1. Combine water, onion, orange peel and cloves in slow cooker.
  2. Add corned beef, fat side up, to slow cooker.
  3. Cover and cook on LOW 7 to 9 hours or until fork-tender.
  4. Remove corned beef from slow cooker.
  5. Score top of corned beef, insert additional cloves to decorate, if desired.
  6. About 30 minutes before serving, place corned beef in ovenproof pan.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  8. Prepare Glaze; spoon over corned beef.
  9. Bake 20 to 20 minutes, basting occasionally with Glaze.
  10. Glaze instructions:
  11. Combine honey, orange juice concentrate and mustard in large bowl.
