Corn bread from scratch.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups yellow cornmeal
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 2 tablespoons bacon drippings

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a skillet.
  2. Sift the cornmeal, flour, baking powder and salt together. Mix in the buttermilk, eggs and bacon drippings. Stir only until mixed and then pour into the prepared skillet.
  3. Bake for approximately 30 minutes.
