Gammel Dansk, which translates into ‘Old Danish,’ is a Danish bitters flavored with hints of angelica, star anise, nutmeg, ginger, laurel, gentian, orange and cinnamon.  Try it blended with apricot liqueur in this bourbon-based drink.


  • 1 part Bourbon
  • 1 part apricot liqueur
  • 1/4 ounce Gammel Dansk bitters
  • Lemon peel to garnish


  1. Place all of the ingredients, except for the garnish, into a cocktail shaker.
  2. Fill the shaker with ice and then vigorously shake the mixture for 30 seconds to chill.
  3. Strain the mixture into a cocktail glass, garnish with the lemon peel, and then serve immediately.
