A seafood favorite, shrimp gets hot and in Shrimp Creole
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups onion, chopped
- 1 cup celery, chopped fine
- 2 medium green peppers, chopped fine
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1, 15 ounce can tomato sauce
- 1 cup water
- 2 teaspoons parsley, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 bay leaves, crushed
- 14-16 ounces raw shrimp, cleaned (fresh or frozen)
- 3 cups hot cooked rice
Directions
- Melt butter in a skillet. Add onion, celery, green pepper and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes or until tender. Remove from heat.
- Stir in tomato sauce, water and seasonings. Simmer 10 minutes. Add additional water if needed. Add shrimp, heat mixture to boiling. Cover and cook over medium heat 10-20 minutes, or until shrimp are pink and tender. Serve over rice.
