Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream can be jazzed up with a variety of toppings.
Ingredients
- 1 quart milk
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 4 tablespoons water
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs, separated
- 1 pint heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Directions
- Scald milk. Mix flour and water to a smooth paste. Stir in milk and cook over hot water for 10 minutes. Add sugar and slightly beaten egg yolks and cook 2 minutes longer. Strain through a fine sieve and when cooled add stiffly beaten egg whites, cream and vanilla. Fills a two quart freezer.
