Crunchy and flavorful Gingersnaps are an old fashioned favorite.
Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup molasses
- 4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon soda
Directions
- Cream shortening and 2 cups sugar together in a bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs, mixing well. Add molasses, mixing well.
- Sift remaining ingredients together. Add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Shape into tablespoon-sized balls. Place on cookie sheet and flatten slightly. Sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake at 375 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes.
