Crunchy and flavorful Gingersnaps are an old fashioned favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon soda

Directions

  1. Cream shortening and 2 cups sugar together in a bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs, mixing well. Add molasses, mixing well.
  2. Sift remaining ingredients together. Add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Shape into tablespoon-sized balls. Place on cookie sheet and flatten slightly. Sprinkle with sugar.
  3. Bake at 375 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes.
