These toffee bars make a cozy afternoon snack, especially alongside a hot cup of coffee. Bake a batch to share with family and friends during the holiday season.


  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1-1/2 cups chocolate chips


  1. In a saucepan, bring butter and brown sugar to a boil over low heat.
  2. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. Mix together butter mixture, eggs and vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
  5. Blend flour combination into egg mixture.
  6. Fold in pecans.
  7. Pour batter into a greased 9x13 baking dish.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
  9. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over bars when removed from oven.
  10. When chocolate melts, spread evenly over entire sheet; cut into bars or squares.
