Cranberry sauce is not supposed to be canned or jellied. Try making this simple homemade version with fresh cranberries instead.


  • 1 pound fresh cranberries
  • 1-1/2 cups apple juice
  • 1 cup sugar


  1. Put the cranberries, apple juice and sugar into a large saucepan and place over low heat.
  2. Simmer the mixture until the cranberries burst, about 20 minutes.
  3. Allow the sauce to cool to room temperature before covering and placing in the refrigerator to chill before serving.
