It’s not Christmas without a cup of creamy eggnog. Try making it from scratch this year, but make sure to use fresh eggs, good quality liquor and fresh nutmeg kernels.
Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 quarts light cream
- 1 cup brandy
- 1 cup bourbon or dark rum
- 1 cup Kahlua
- freshly grated nutmeg
Directions
- Beat the eggs in a large bowl until light yellow and frothy.
- Add the sugar, vanilla and cream to the eggs and mix until sugar has dissolved.
- Pour in the brandy and Kahlua and stir well.
- Place eggnog in the refrigerator, covered, and chill for at least 4 hours. Sprinkle with freshly grated nutmeg before serving.
