Christmas Eggnog

It’s not Christmas without a cup of creamy eggnog. Try making it from scratch this year, but make sure to use fresh eggs, good quality liquor and fresh nutmeg kernels.


  • 6 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 quarts light cream
  • 1 cup brandy
  • 1 cup bourbon or dark rum
  • 1 cup Kahlua
  • freshly grated nutmeg


  1. Beat the eggs in a large bowl until light yellow and frothy.
  2. Add the sugar, vanilla and cream to the eggs and mix until sugar has dissolved.
  3. Pour in the brandy and Kahlua and stir well.
  4. Place eggnog in the refrigerator, covered, and chill for at least 4 hours. Sprinkle with freshly grated nutmeg before serving.
