This sweet coffee cake makes a cozy breakfast treat, especially alongside a hot cup of coffee.
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup powdered milk
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1-1/2 cups maraschino cherries, drained
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions
- Cream eggs, 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup butter.
- In a separate bowl, combine 2 cups flour, baking powder, powdered milk and salt.
- Blend flour combination and milk into sugar mixture.
- Fold in cherries and nuts.
- Pour batter into a greased 8x8 baking dish.
- Mix together remaining flour, sugar, butter and cinnamon until mixture becomes coarse; sprinkle over top of cake batter.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
