This sweet coffee cake makes a cozy breakfast treat, especially alongside a hot cup of coffee.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup powdered milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 cups maraschino cherries, drained
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

  1. Cream eggs, 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup butter.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine 2 cups flour, baking powder, powdered milk and salt.
  3. Blend flour combination and milk into sugar mixture.
  4. Fold in cherries and nuts.
  5. Pour batter into a greased 8x8 baking dish.
  6. Mix together remaining flour, sugar, butter and cinnamon until mixture becomes coarse; sprinkle over top of cake batter.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
