Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 12-14 chopped maraschino cherries
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a loaf pan.
  2. Sift all of the dry ingredients together. Fold in shortening. Add in the cherries and the nuts.
  3. Combine all the liquid ingredients and add them to the dry ingredients. Mix only until moistened.
  4. Pour into loaf pan, bake for 50-60 minutes.
