Bring the carnival to your kitchen. Delicious, fun to eat corndogs bring back memories of the County Fair. Try this easy trick: Pour the cornmeal batter into a tall glass for easy coating.
Ingredients
- 1 package hot dogs
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/3 cup cornmeal
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 beaten egg
- wooden skewers
- Vegetable oil for frying
Directions
- Dry the hotdogs on paper towel. Insert skewer in one end of each hotdog.
- Heat oil to 375 degrees F.
- Mix well the flour, cornmeal, sugar, dry mustard, baking powder and salt. Add oil, milk and beaten egg. Mix until batter is smooth. Pour into a tall glass.
- Dip the hotdog in the batter until completely coated. Fry in hot oil for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels.
