Chocolate frosted Buttermilk Brownies are tender and moist.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 box confectioners' sugar

Directions

  1. Combine 1 stick margarine, 1/4 cup cocoa and 1 cup water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, mixing well. Pour over mixture of flour, sugar and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a bowl.
  2. Add 1/2 cup buttermilk, eggs, soda and 1 teaspoon vanilla, mixing well. Pour into a greased and floured jelly roll pan. Bake at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes.
  3. Combine 1 stick margarine with 1/4 cup cocoa and 1/3 cup buttermilk in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, blending well.
  4. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients, mixing until creamy. Frost brownies immediately upon removing from the oven. Cut into squares when cooled.
