Butter Tarts are filled with nuts.
Ingredients
- sifted flour
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 10 tablespoons shortening
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
Directions
- Combine 1-1/2 cups flour and salt in a bowl. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Add 3 tablespoons water, mixing well. Divide dough into 24 portions.
- Roll out and line tart or muffin cups.
- Combine 1-1/2 teaspoons flour with sugars in a bowl. Beat egg, milk and vanilla together in a small bowl. Add to sugar mixture, mixing well. Stir in butter and nuts.
- Fill pastry shells. Bake at 425 degrees F for 15 to 20 minutes or until set.
