Breaded and fried green tomato slices.


  • 6 large firm green tomatoes, cut into 1/4 inch thick slices
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • Vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper


  1. Coat the tomatoes in the cornmeal. Season with the salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the oil in a skillet. Fry the tomatoes until browned over medium-high heat. Turn only once.
