Fruity red wine is combined with bourbon and then heated with a mix of flavorful and aromatic ingredients to give you this rich and heady drink.


  • 1/2 bottle fruity red wine
  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise pods
  • 1 long strip lemon peel
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • cinnamon sticks to garnish


  1. Place all of the ingredients, except for the garnish, into a saucepan and warm over low heat being careful not to boil.
  2. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to intermingle.
  3. Serve the mixture in heatproof mugs and garnish with cinnamon sticks.
