A ‘shrub’ is a compound liquor made with spirits, juice and sugar. Try this soda water–topped cocktail made with pineapple shrub, bourbon, fresh lemon juice, simple sugar and allspice dram.

Ingredients

2 ounces Bourbon
1 ounce Pineapple Shrub
1/2 ounce Lemon Juice
1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
2 barspoon Allspice Dram
Cold soda water
Thin lemon twists to garnish

Directions

Place all of the ingredients, except for the garnish and cold soda, into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Vigorously shake the mixture for 30 seconds and then strain into a cocktail glass.
Top with the soda, garnish with the lemon twists and serve immediately.
