Wonderful served hot with butter.
Ingredients
- Syrup:
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup water
- Rolls:
- 2 cups flour
- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 cup drained blueberries
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Directions
- Combine all the syrup ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Pour into an 8 inch round pan. Set aside to allow to cool.
- To make the rolls, sift together all the dry ingredients. Cut in the shortening using a pastry blender until coarse. Mix in the beaten egg and milk.
- Roll the dough out on a lightly floured board. Press into an 10x15 inch rectangle. Sprinkle the blueberries and nuts on. Roll lengthwise, like a jelly roll. Cut into 10 slices.
- Arrange in the cooled syrup and bake for 15-20 minutes at 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
