Blueberry Cinnamon Rolls

Wonderful served hot with butter.

Ingredients

  • Syrup:
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Rolls:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 cup drained blueberries
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Combine all the syrup ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Pour into an 8 inch round pan. Set aside to allow to cool.
  2. To make the rolls, sift together all the dry ingredients. Cut in the shortening using a pastry blender until coarse. Mix in the beaten egg and milk.
  3. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured board. Press into an 10x15 inch rectangle. Sprinkle the blueberries and nuts on. Roll lengthwise, like a jelly roll. Cut into 10 slices.
  4. Arrange in the cooled syrup and bake for 15-20 minutes at 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
