This Blue Ribbon Pound Cake is a true winner. A generous slice can be dressed up with strawberries and whipped cream or eaten au naturel.
Ingredients
- 4 cups flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- pinch of ground nutmeg
- 2 cups butter, softened
- 3 cups sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Directions
- Sift dry ingredients and set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time.
- Add dry ingredients alternatively with milk and flavoring.
- Mix thoroughly with mixer at slow speed.
- Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan. Pour in batter. Bake at 300 degrees F for about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
