One of the few classic mixed drinks to include scotch, this 1920s cocktail is named after the movie “Blood and Sand,’ starring Rudolph Valentino.


  • 1 ounce sweet vermouth
  • 1/2 ounce Scotch
  • 1/2 ounce cherry brandy
  • 1/2 ounce fresh orange juice


  1. Place a martini glass in the freezer for 5 minutes to chill.
  2. Pour all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake the mixture for about 35 seconds and then strain into the prepared glass; serve immediately.
