Blackberry and Cabernet Caipirinha

This punch-like cocktail, served at Cantina in San Francisco, resembles Sangria but with added undertones of rum from the addition of cachaça.


  • 12 blackberries
  • 2 medium limes, quartered
  • 6 ounces cachaça
  • 2 ounces Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Juice of 3 medium limes
  • Juice of 1/2 medium orange
  • 4 ounces Rich Simple Syrup
  • 2 ounces cranberry juice
  • Ice
  • Lime and orange wheels to garnish


  1. Place the blackberries and limes in a large pitcher and muddle together to crush and combine.
  2. Pour in the cachaça, Cabernet, lime juice, orange juice, rich simple syrup, cranberry juice and some ice, and stir the mixture for 25 seconds to chill.
  3. Serve garnished with the lime and orange wheels.
