The Bensonhurst gets its strong herbal yet also vegetal undertones of flavor from the addition of Cynar, an Italian bitter apéritif liqueur with dark brown color and a bittersweet flavor.
Ingredients
- 1-3/4 ounces rye whiskey
- 2/3 ounce dry vermouth
- 1 bar-spoon maraschino
- 1 bar-spoon Cynar
- Orange zest twist to garnish
Directions
- Place all of the ingredients, except for the orange twist, into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Slowly stir the mixture for 30 seconds and then strain into a cocktail glass.
- Garnish the drink with the orange zest twist and then serve immediately.
