Beef Bolognese

Serve this hearty, meaty sauce over low-carb pasta of your choice. Browning a few of the ingredients beforehand adds a rich depth of flavor. For even more flavor, stir in Parmesan cheese before serving.


  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 ounces prosciutto, chopped
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoons dried Italian seasoning


  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook onions and prosciutto, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes. Add beef and mushrooms and cook, stirring often, until beef is browned. Add beef mixture and remaining ingredients to a slow cooker and cook on HIGH for 4 hours or LOW for 8 hours.
