Bavarian Apple Torte is a deluxe cheesecake flavored with cinnamon and garnished with almonds.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1, 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 cups sliced apples
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds

Directions

  1. Cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Blend in flour. Spread dough on bottom and 1 1/2 inches high around a springform pan.
  2. Combine cream cheese and sugar. Mix well. Add egg and vanilla. Mix and pour into pastry.
  3. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Toss apple is sugar mixture. Spoon apples over cream cheese layer, sprinkle with nuts.
  4. Bake at 450 degrees F for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 400 degrees F then continue baking for 25 minutes. Loosen torte from rim of pan using a knife. Let cool before removing rim of pan.
