Bavarian Apple Torte is a deluxe cheesecake flavored with cinnamon and garnished with almonds.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- 1, 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 4 cups sliced apples
- 1/4 cup slivered almonds
Directions
- Cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Blend in flour. Spread dough on bottom and 1 1/2 inches high around a springform pan.
- Combine cream cheese and sugar. Mix well. Add egg and vanilla. Mix and pour into pastry.
- Combine sugar and cinnamon. Toss apple is sugar mixture. Spoon apples over cream cheese layer, sprinkle with nuts.
- Bake at 450 degrees F for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 400 degrees F then continue baking for 25 minutes. Loosen torte from rim of pan using a knife. Let cool before removing rim of pan.
