Basic Meringue is a perfect topping for lemon pie.


  • 3 egg whites
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar


  1. Beat egg whites until frothy. Add cream of tartar. Continue beating until egg whites are stiff. Gradually add sugar and continue to beat. Spread meringue on top of pie and bake at 350 degrees F 12 to 15 minutes until meringue is browned.
