Basic Highball Cocktail

This is a classic cocktail that all hosts and hostesses should know how to make to order. Do not over stir this carbonated beverage otherwise it will become a ‘foul ball.’


  • 1 ounce whiskey
  • 5 ounces cold ginger ale
  • lemon peel twist to garnish


  1. Put a highball glass into the freezer for 5 minutes to chill.
  2. Fill the prepared glass with ice cubes and then pour in the whiskey.
  3. Slowly add the ginger ale then gently stir 3 times to combine. Garnish with a lemon peel twist and serve immediately.
