These spiced cookies make a cozy afternoon snack, especially alongside a hot cup of coffee.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup mashed bananas
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup raisins
Directions
- Cream shortening, brown sugar, eggs and bananas.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, salt and nutmeg. Blend into banana mixture. Fold in raisins and nuts. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm enough to handle.
- Drop by teaspoon onto a prepared baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.
