Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef, lean
  • 1 cup finely chopped onions
  • 4 cups hot water
  • 1 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1 cup diced potato
  • 1 cup finely shredded carrots
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 small can diced tomatoes

Directions

  1. Brown the ground beef and onions.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer until the vegetables are tender---about 30 minutes.
  3. Add the tomatoes and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
