Affogato, the Italian word for ‘drowned,’ is an espresso-based dessert. Its rich and intense flavors will delight you.

  • 1 pint premium vanilla ice cream
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon instant espresso powder
  • 4 tablespoons Disaronno Amaretto liqueur
  • 6 amaretti (Italian almond macaroons), roughly crumbled (1/3 cup)
  • Semisweet chocolate for shaving

  1. Pre-chill 4 dessert bowls by placing into the freezer for 10 minutes.
  2. In the meantime, remove the vanilla ice cream from the freezer and allow it to soften slightly.
  3. Place the boiling water and the espresso powder into a measuring cup and stir until powder has completely dissolved.
  4. Using an ice cream scoop, scoop out 1/2 cup ice cream and place into each of the prepared dessert bowls. Top the ice cream with 1 tablespoon of the liqueur and then add some of the crumbled cookies.
  5. Garnish the desserts with shavings of the semisweet chocolate and serve immediately.

I have been looking for a really good recipe for almond macaroons . My mother in law is coming to visit us in a few weeks, and she loves almond macaroons. I thought as a surprise, I would make her almond macaroons for a dessert with dinner on the first night of her arrival. I however, cannot really cook to save my life. It's unfortunate, but true. My husband does most of the cooking in our home. I'd really like to try to give the almond macaroons a shot though. I need to find a very easy recipe for the almond macaroons . Is there a search engine that I could search the most efficiently for almond macaroons?
