In countries around the world, the word ‘Frappe’ can mean very different things including: a milkshake, a foam-covered coffee or even a non-dairy fruit drink. In cocktail terms however, it refers a liqueur poured over shaved ice.


  • 1 ounce absinthe
  • 2 teaspoons sugar or to taste
  • 1 ounce water
  • Ice cubes


  1. Place the absinthe, sugar and the water into a blender and process until the sugar has dissolved.
  2. With the motor running, add ice cubes to the blender and blend until mixture becomes smooth.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a cocktail glass and serve immediately.
