The uterus is hollow with a thick, muscular wall, and is considered the strongest muscle in the human body. In the pre-pregnant state, your uterus is the shape and size of a small pear, and is about one inch thick.

Just one of the 350 million sperm from the father will penetrate the ovum. The father's sperm determines the sex of the child. Women have only two X chromosomes, while your partner has only XY. His X chromosome added to your contribution of an X makes a girl, an XY combination makes a boy. XX and XY sperm actually behave differently -- XX are slower but live longer while XY move faster and die younger. This may be due to the understanding that XX sperm are more likely to survive in an acidic environment.
