Hero dogs

Amazing Rescues By Canine Heroes

According to the American Heritage Dictionary, a hero is "a person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life." These same qualities extend to our four-legged friends who have, time and time again, exhibited selflessness and courage in challenging situations.

A Chihuahua adopts squirrel babies

Mimi, a 10-year-old chihuahua, doesn't care about differences. She just knew some orphaned babies needed mothering and didn't care one woof if they were baby squirrels! Derek Varnes found the babies in a downed tree limb. He quickly brought them to his fiancé's mother, Jeanette Young, for help. Jeanette agreed to care for them but soon realized Mimi wanted to take over. Even though Mimi's last litter had been born four years before, she still began producing enough milk to nourish her adopted squirrels babies.  What a mom! What a hero!

wow...this is so heartbreaking....yet so admirable, of how a dog puts his life in danger by going in the middle of the highway to save a hurt dog across the street...
