I don't think people are getting the point of this article. They are not placing the dogs in size, put in temperament and personality. They aren't saying a Great Dane is smaller than a Labrador, they are comparing temperaments, and which breeds are better than some (Don't get me wrong, all breeds are great!).

I am looking for the best dog for me and my family. We are family of 5. Our Rottwieler passed away last night. :'( He is in a better place now. His hip was giving out. :( His name was Tiny. He was my best friend until the day he died. :( We are looking for the best dog. :) We miss our dog very much. :(

What a stupid article, how on earth do they think that a Labrador is bigger than a Great Dane. Wtf

I have always dreamed of owning a large dog, especially a Rottweiler! This was a great guide for prospective owners.

that's bull... great dane should be number 2 and irish wolfhound should be 1... and the greater swiss mountain dog is bigger than a labradour I have a greater swiss mountain dog and an irish wolf hound and there both REALLY big

Boss- World record for height, Zeus-44 inches for weight, Hercules-282 lbs. If you are gonna lie about your dogs height and weight to impress us please keep it within believable bounds.

What about Newfoundlands? Where are they?

@JD: Newfoundlands really aren't that big? Seriously? I have seen a few "smallish" Newfs (which I suspect weren't really purebred) but any Newf worthy of the name can only be described as massive. And a 30" Golden? At the withers? That's totally awesome, but way outside the norm. AKC standard is 22-24" for males. My female Newfy is 28" (tall for a female) and she dwarfs every Golden we've ever met. This is really kind of an odd list. It does say "large" breeds, not "giant", but then it includes Great Danes and Bernese.
