Little Vincent the cat was born in Nevada, Iowa, and abandoned. I can't imagine how hard it would be to care for a cat with no hind legs. How does it do... anything? But some wonderful people at the Story County Animal Shelter in Iowa saw past that and stepped up in a big way. This video will both amaze you and warm your heart.
The daughter of a woman working at the shelter got in touch with Mary Sarah Bergh, a veterinary orthopedic surgeon and professor at her school, Iowa State. The rest is history, and little Vincent will likely be jumping soon — with his high-tech titanium prosthetic legs doing a lot of the work. Thanks to the genius of Bergh for deciding to work on Vincent, who knows what that might mean for our furry friends in the future?
And thanks for the unconditional love of all the people working at shelters around the country. Every day they deal with the animals others discard for one reason or another, providing them with affection, care and the hope that a permanent home is on the horizon. Vincent is now one of the lucky ones.
