Select the right shows
The first step in selecting shows for your preschooler is to find shows that are appropriate for the developmental level of your child. That automatically rules out anything rated R, PG-13, and even most PG-rated movies that are shown on TV. Obviously, any shows with nudity, violence, drugs, and sexual activity aren’t appropriate for preschooler viewing. Instead, Dr. Meg Carroll, a professor at the School of Education at Saint Xavier University, recommends looking for shows that offer experiences with reading and using numbers, learning about the world, and gaining new vocabulary.
