African American Military History Museum

Freedom Summer Trail

Jump in the family vehicle and take the driving tour of the Freedom Summer Trail. Composed of a number of historic sites from the Freedom Summer of 1964 and the civil rights era in Hattiesburg, the Freedom Summer Trail serves as reminder of this period of change. Start at the Hattiesburg Visitors Center, where you can get a map of the sites and learn the historical significance of each.

Birthplace of Kermit the Frog

Ever wonder where Kermit the Frog got his start? Find out the history of this famous puppet's creation at the Birthplace of Kermit the Frog. This museum is located near Deer Creek, where Kermit the Frog's creator, Jim Henson, spent many of his childhood days.
