Ride Into Summer
In the heart of historic Gardiner is a summer celebration that used to be dubbed "Hawgs, Pies and Fireworks." Skipping the literal name for something more modern, this festival is about more than the aforementioned attractions. There's a bike parade, pizza contest, live music and, yes, Maine's biggest annual fireworks display, all on the extended weekend of Memorial Day each year.
The moose are back and they're ready to party! Well, Greenville residents are ready to do it on their behalf. Celebrate the return of the moose with this month-long celebration, featuring adult and kids crafts, live music, a moose "safari," canoe races and more.
When: May through June
Westbrook Together Days
This is one for all ages! Take the kids to the petting zoo, or let them roam around on their own to discover lazer tag, a dunk tank, moon bounce, magicians and more. A number of amusement rides keep the festival going among a full carnival. Later, gather the troops for the 30-minute fireworks display, all in celebration of the budding Westbrook community.
Whatever Family Festival
It's time to get wild and do... whatever! This 30-plus-year-old festival celebrates each individual's uniqueness. Let the kids go crazy in bouncy castles, at the craft table, hands-on activities and more. There's something for everyone. The 80 events and activities that make this festival what it is include live music, dancing and more, almost all free of charge.
Take your little pirates to this annual celebration, where "pirates" sail in to the Newcastle and Damariscotta docks with a display of cannon fire, fun costumes and more. The pirates host a treasure hunt to get the kids involved. Help them find the Lost Treasure of the Mystic Pirates. Then head to the outlying shops and restaurants for more pirate-themed fun.
