Tampa's Hands-On Kids' Adventure
Interact with art and science at this new Glazer Children’s Museum in Tampa, which features exhibits that will engage and inspire the whole family!
Glazer Children's Museum
As soon as you park the car, you'll find yourself captivated by this new children's museum in downtown Tampa. Allow time to stroll along adjacent Curtis Hixon park, where two "spraygrounds" (splash pads) and an interactive play area delight kids and toddlers! The interactive NEOS 360 ring in the playground is the first installation of its kind in the Southeast, and features video games combined with aerobics. Also, don't miss the rowers and speedboats passing by along the museum's waterfront.
Inside the two level Glazer Children's Museum, kids can interact with dozens of themed exhibits that teach through imaginative play. Toddlers can play inside a tugboat, climb onboard a miniature fire truck and dance on a big screen. Older kids and brave little ones can climb a unique indoor jungle gym meant to look like the iconic thunderheads often seen on the Florida horizon. In Water's Journey (shown above), kids pretend to be drops of water on this 35-foot-tall play structure, and get to manipulate water to learn about physics and the water cycle. Children and adults alike are encouraged to participate in the water cycle!
In the Art Smart museum, kids go beyond admiration and engage directly with art pieces. Budding artists can play with face paint, build kaleidoscopes or write with light. In a replica of a 1900's biplane, kids simulate soaring over Tampa Bay's landmarks.
Best of all, the Glazer Children's Museum is new. It still has that new museum smell, and all the exhibits feel fresh and are well-stocked with toys and opportunities for adventure. Make a day out of it and pick up lunch in the museum café.
