At Madame Tussauds in New York -- just off Times Square -- you will find the wax likenesses of many famous people -- including, movie stars, singers, models, and athletes. There is Babe Ruth and Derek Jeter, Brad and Angelina, Elvis, The Rock, and many more! Newest additions to the wax family include Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen for all you Twihards), Alicia Keys, and Captain Jack Sparrow.
Of course these are just wax figures, so why is this one of New York City's hottest attractions? Simple: Even though these sculptures are made wax, they look very realistic, and visitors are allowed to interact with them -- which means you can have your picture taken with Johnny Depp and Michael Jackson. If you are involved with politics, then get a shot with yourself next to Hillary Clinton or George Bush. Even though it is not really them, it is still fun to share your pictures of Madame Tussauds with friends and family.
Located towards the end of the museum beside the gift shop, you will find the Superman exhibit. (Note: It does not feature Christopher Reeves, but instead Brandon Routh from Superman Returns in 2005). Here you can lie on a table in front of a green screen and pretend that you are flying above the city -- just like Superman. This is recorded and put on a DVD that you can purchase. What a fantastic souvenir from your trip to New York City! (We have one of both my husband and my step daughter, and still love to watch them.)
Madame Tussauds boasts a midsize 4D theater that provides an unforgettable experience for the whole family. Not only does the screen look fantastic, but the entire theater is set up with little tricks, such as water sprays and wind blowers on the sides and backs of the seats. When you least expect it, you will be jumping out of your chair! What is playing depends upon you visit, so be sure to check out the Madame Tussauds site to see what is in store for you.
The Scream attraction is an upscale haunted house. Walk through the dimly-lit halls wondering what is around the corner. Is that a wax figure or a real person? With live actors, flashing lights and special effects, it's a spooky experience! It's definitely not for the faint of heart or for young children.
If it's your birthday, stay for a party! Madame Tussauds invites you to book your private party at her NYC wax museum. What an awesome way to celebrate your special day. You can bet none of your friends have ever had such an amazing party venue, so go on and make them all jealous.
